Xiaomi is Banned from Importing and Selling handsets in India

Delhi High Court has passed order against Xiaomi for allegedly infringing on Ericssion's Standard Patents (SEPs). Xiaomi, Chinese electronics manufacturer, is unable to import and selling its products in India that infringe upon Ericssion's patents.

It is still not clear that the order passed by Delhi High Court is applied to all the products of Xiaomi or a particular device.

Reports are giving indication that Flipkart is also involved in this case. In an email to a leading channel of media, Xiaomi India Head MANU JAIN responded as

While we haven't received an official notice from the Delhi High Court, our legal team is currently evaluating the situation based on the information we have. India is a very important market for Xiaomi and we will respond promptly as needed and in full compliance with Indian laws. Moreover, we are open to working with Ericsson to resolve this matter amicably.

Ericssion is continuously fighting against the manufacturer to protect its own SEPs in Indian legal system.

Ericssion is a Swedish telecommunication company had also sued the Giant SAMSUNG in 2012 for infringing on its technology Voice transmission, Touchscreen function and Network efficiency Patents. The two of cases against Samsung were closed in 2014 after cross agreement and Samsung is paying $650 millions plus royalities to Ericssion.
